enCORE Elementary ELA: New Lesson Segment & Structure

We’re thrilled to bring you an update to enCORE Elementary ELA this year! When you dive into the platform, you’ll notice a new lesson segment structure in enCORE Elementary ELA that mirrors the linear progression of segments in other content areas and grade bands.

You also have access to a new lesson segment titled Everyday ELA that combines instruction in sight words, phonics, vocabulary, and daily book reading. This represents our continued and strengthened alignment to Science of Reading best practices.

The Daily Implementation Guides (DIGs) will reflect the new lesson organization, but don’t worry – all previous versions will continue to be available in the Resources tab.

New Decodable Readers

Build foundational reading skills with new decodable readers! Decodable readers, which will be available on August 28, are carefully written texts that use only the letter-sound relationships (phonics), or sight words, a student has already learned. This means every word in a decodable reader can be ‘sounded out’ or read by sight, reinforcing decoding skills and word recognition skills, and building confidence.

Decodable texts prioritize phonics-based word recognition. This allows students to apply what they’ve been explicitly taught, strengthening the connection between letters and sounds in a meaningful, authentic reading experience

Our new decodables will be available in enCORE Elementary ELA Units 4–36, with:

  • 2 decodables per unit (1 per lesson plan)
  • Available in PDF and e-Reader formats
  • Include vocabulary support worksheet, sight word flashcards, and comprehension checks

📌 Reminder: full rollout to 6 readers/unit is planned to complete at the end of 2026.
