Language Accelerator, our personalized technology-based language intervention for students with deficits or delays in any area of language, was built with collaboration and flexibility in mind. We’re excited to introduce three key enhancements designed to make Language Accelerator more comprehensive, more engaging, and even more supportive of student success:
Now you can easily track student progress on individual skills across language domains over time and demonstrate growth. Our new Language Accelerator Benchmark Assessments provide specific, meaningful data at key intervals throughout the year to help you make informed instructional and therapeutic decisions. The data from Language Accelerator Benchmark Assessments supports multidisciplinary teams with clear progress monitoring data and strong IEP goals.
Whether you’re a classroom teacher or SLP, the benchmark assessments will offer valuable insights into how your students are progressing in the specific domain(s) of language for which they are receiving intervention. The numerous assessments cover skills in the following domains:
Reports for Language Accelerator Benchmark Assessments are available for administrators and classroom-level facilitators, including teachers and SLPs.
By leveraging this holistic insight, administrators and teachers can identify trends, monitor student progress, and make strategic decisions to further personalize instructional support.
Words are powerful, and understanding how they’re built is key to language mastery. With new interactive Morphological Awareness Activities included alongside the Inflectional and Derivational activities within the Morphology domain, students can now explore word parts, prefixes, suffixes, and root words through both teacher-led and student-led tech-based lessons. These activities support vocabulary growth and decoding skills, while helping students recognize patterns in language that boost comprehension and expression. The example below shows a teacher-led technology lesson for working on base words and suffixes. The instruction is, “Circle the suffix and underline the base word.”.
Sometimes, a story without printed words says the most! We’ve added a collection of Wordless Picture Books to support students in building language skills, including storytelling, sequencing, comprehension, critical thinking, and active participation. They are a favorite for both classroom teachers and SLPs. The sample book, A Day at the Pool, is shown below, with an example of a teacher-led technology lesson. The closed captions show how the intervention prompts the teacher or SLP to engage with the student in story telling and recording the student’s verbal responses to get a narrative language sample.
Language Accelerator is about strengthening the partnership between educators, SLPs, and students. With support across the six domains of language, plus articulation and literacy-based activities, it offers a holistic, research-based approach to language intervention.
Each lesson can be delivered flexibly, whether you’re co-planning as an SLP-educator team or working independently. The technology personalizes learning through a placement evaluation, making it super easy to get started. Language Accelerator automates all data collection, ensuring students are practicing on their individual language needs at a pace and level of rigor that is appropriate for them. The platform supports student response recording as well as SOAP note documentation, while the printable supplementary materials reinforce practice beyond the screen.
These new updates are part of our continued commitment to growing with your needs. We’re here to ensure that every student gets access to the personalized support they deserve, and that you have the tools to make that happen.
