Each training session is a hands-on experience where educators are live in the program, their teacher and student accounts are created and they are fully prepared to leave the training and have their students utilizing the program the following day.

As part of the on-site training package, the TeachTown trainer will travel to your school district and conduct a 6-hour training for up to 30 staff and/or faculty members. During this training, the trainer will teach all of the content and skill sets indicated above, model their application in the individual curriculums, and provide all participants with the opportunity to explore the content and practice the skills themselves, so they are ready to implement the curriculums in their classroom the very next day.

This training can be designed to address TeachTown Basics, TeachTown Social Skills, or both and can be individualized to address issues specific to your school district, such as student populations, scheduling of program use, and specific implementation parameters set forth by administrators.

Overview of the Training Agenda that can be customized to meet the needs of your individual district.

  1. Introduction to TeachTown, including TeachTown Basics and/or the TeachTown Social Skills program. Participants will become familiar with TeachTown and the Basics Program that is based on the principals and methodologies of Applied Behavioral Analysis. Topics include program navigation, creating Facilitator and Student Accounts, customizing the program to meet a student’s individual needs, selecting lessons based on needs of student and IEP Goals and utilizing the many reports available to drive instruction and monitor usage and student progress.
  2. Data Driven Instruction. Participants learn how to effectively use the TeachTown Basics data that is automatically collected during each student session and TeachTown Social Skills data that is collected using the TeachTown Social Skills app. Topics include: using the reports to guide instruction, selecting lessons based on student progress and IEP goals, and understanding raw and summary data.
  3. Effective Use of TeachTown Basics Generalization Lessons and Social Skills Lessons. TeachTown Basics takes a combined approach of utilizing on computer lessons and generalization lessons. Participants will learn how to effectively utilize and implement the Lessons provided to ensure students can generalize the concepts learned on the computer. TeachTown Social Skills offers a wide range of classroom-based lessons that each target a specific social skill and can be implemented in any order based on the individual needs of your student(s). Selection and scheduling of the lessons, different ways to implement (ie. individual, small group, whole group, home), and how to modify (remediate and accelerate) all lessons to meet the needs of students with a wide range of abilities are all reviewed in group activity format.

Our TeachTown Professional Development staff has developed comprehensive training sessions that offer the tools necessary to implement TeachTown products with success. We strive to continually improve these training resources, both in the content we deliver during training, as well as the documentation we provide based on evolving educational strategies, student and program needs, and feedback we receive through communication with our fidelity services. Each training session is unique to the needs of our clients. We work with you and your team to evaluate progress and create goals for your individual programs. Most importantly, effective integration of TeachTown Basics and the TeachTown Social Skills program requires that we have an understanding of the environment, the students, and the instructional practices that are being used in the classrooms. This understanding allows us to help you integrate TeachTown Basics and the TeachTown Social Skills program into daily schedules with fidelity and engagement. Our teams partner together as a shared event when communicating with your team through implementations, evaluations, and webinars.

TeachTown Coaching
Classroom On-Site Coaching

On-Site Coaching uses a highly individualized and hands-on approach to supporting teachers in their journey with TeachTown. Prior to each teacher visit, TeachTown coaches examine data reports documenting the individual teacher’s program usage and his/her students’ progress in the program. Coaches then bring the data to the classrooms to review directly with the teacher, highlighting areas of success and troubleshooting areas of concern. In addition, coaches address teacher questions and concerns with issues like scheduling, customization of the program to best fit student needs, and other program or student-specific issues. Coaches are also prepared to provide additional, individualized training in any aspects of the program where teachers need support.

On-Site Coaching is designed to be an ongoing support for teachers, assisting them through initial implementation, ongoing troubleshooting and data analysis, and decision-making regarding individualization for specific students. When considering how to maximize the long-term efficacy of coaching support, teacher success increases with consistent support over time.

Initially, On-Site Coaching is most effective when scheduled after teachers have received training and have had time to implement the program in their classrooms. This initial coaching allows teachers to examine their early program usage and student response to the program with our experts and resolve any issues they may have encountered quickly. They leave the coaching sessions with strategies for improving implementation and student outcomes, as well as a greater understanding of what is already working for their students.

Specific topics that can be addressed in initial coaching sessions:

  1. Strategies for scheduling / increasing program usage,
  2. including length of session and sessions per week

  3. How to increase student progress for students who are struggling
  4. How to accelerate the program to challenge students who are experiencing high rates of success
  5. Individualized modifications and customizations that can be used for students who are struggling or are experiencing attention or behavior challenges
  6. How to use generalization lesson effectively for all students
  7. How to use available supports (i.e., training guide, visual supports on website, etc.)
  8. How to access and use data reports

Districts can then maximize the effectiveness of coaching services by scheduling follow-up opportunities at regular intervals throughout the school year. These regular coaching sessions provide teachers the opportunity to examine, with TeachTown coaches, how consistent program usage and fine-tuning implementation leads to better outcomes for students, how new strategies developed during previous coaching sessions are working, and how they can continue to hone their usage of the program to best serve their students. In addition, this ongoing coaching model increases teacher investment in the TeachTown curricula and builds greater capacity for increasingly analytical decision-making regarding program implementation for each individual student they teach.

Specific topics that can be addressed in on-going coaching sessions:

  1. How program usage has changed since previous coaching session
  2. How strategies for struggling students are working and what additional strategies may be appropriate
  3. How strategies to accelerate students are working and what additional strategies may be appropriate
  4. How individual modifications and customizations are working for specific students and what additional strategies may be appropriate
  5. How to collect and use generalization data; how to make generalization lessons and other supports part of classroom culture
  6. How to use available supports to address current student-specific issues
  7. How data reports are informing program use and progress

These sessions can be conducted at your convenience after your faculty and staff have received their initial training and begun implementing the curriculum(s).

The webinar format provides you with a choice of how best to structure your school district’s coaching. Specifically, the trainers can work with individual faculty of staff members to provide support and constructive feedback, based on their specific classrooms and students, or the coaching can be conducted with groups of up to 6 faculty or staff members who share the same needs, questions, or implementation parameters.

Similar to on-site coaching, webinar coaching provides an interactive method of supporting teachers in their successful implementation of our curriculums. During the web-based conference, the trainer will lead participants through data reports, discuss strengths and areas of need in terms of student progress and program use, and address the same specific topics targeted in on-site coaching. For school district utilizing webinar coaching, we make the same timeline recommendations as with on-site coaching. That is, coaching is typically most effective when initial sessions are implemented after teachers have been trained and begun implementing the curriculum with follow-up coaching sessions every 3-4 months. Participants are able to access the webinars from any computer via the Internet and can call into the audio portion using a toll-free conference line.

Just as with the on-site coaching, webinar coaching sessions will equip teachers to move beyond simple implementation of our products to a more purposeful application of all of the curriculum components with one clear goal in mind: enhancing student learning and progress exponentially.
